Twitter Continues To Ruin Checkmark with Another Checkmark

Since Elon Mush took over Twitter late in October, a lot of people have left the platform especially when learning about Musk’s plans for the platform which include completely eradicating their current verification system for a paid version.

Well, Twitter is rolling out another kind of checkmark to help users distinguish between the select real accounts and those that are getting a checkmark via the Twitter Blue paid plan of $7.99 per month.

Twitter’s Esther Crawford, who is heading up the new Twitter Blue initiative, spoke about the platform’s plans.

“A lot of folks have asked about how you’ll be able to distinguish between @TwitterBlue subscribers with blue checkmarks and accounts that are verified as official, which is why we’re introducing the ‘Official’ label to select accounts when we launch,” Crawford says.

“Accounts that will receive it include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures,” according to Crawford.

The plans seem completely off, and likely to invite a furthering of the issue of misinformation spreading from unreliable sources, as all they need to do is pony up for Twitter Blue to appear legitimate.
